Local 6 Out in Full Force at 730 Stanyan Street

A much-needed 100%-affordable housing project is currently underway at 730 Stanyan Street in the City’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. Once finished, this mixed-use tower will feature 160 residential units for moderate-income families and transitional-age youth who have experienced homelessness, as well as providing a mix of community-oriented and commercial spaces on the ground floor.

A variety of building trades workers have been on the jobsite putting the final touches on the project, which broke ground in June 2023. In particular, a good number of IBEW Local 6 electricians working with Brayer Electric have recently been roughing in and finishing out the various electrical elements of the build.

On Thursday, March 6, Organized Labor visited 730 Stanyan Street, where we found lots of Local 6 members hard at work, along with other union workers from across the trades.

The 730 Stanyan Street project is a joint venture by Chinatown Community Development Center and the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development.
